Dangerous Rhetoric 83: Fred Sargeant, Gay Rights Pioneer

Legendary gay rights pioneer, cofounder of the original Gay Liberation Day parade (before it became 'Pride'), retired police lieutenant Fred Sargeant joins us for an hour long discussion. We talked about the history, both true and false, surrounding the Stonewall riots, dispelled some myths, and then discussed the fact that Fred was recently assaulted on the streets of Burlington, Vermont, in what was an outburst of pure woke homophobic rage. Thankfully, he escaped with only minor bruises and cuts, but this new wave of homophobia is particularly nasty targeting the elderly with cruelty and glee.
